Controller/Accounting Manager

SWK Holdings Corporation is a NASDAQ listed life science finance company that provides custom financing solutions to companies and royalty owners.   SWK is a market leader in the $5mm to $25mm funding space and is considered a partner of choice for emerging life science and select healthcare service companies.  Since inception SWK has completed over $600mm of transactions.  SWK is a C-Corp/permanent capital vehicle and provides financings through its own balance sheet as well as through its investment advisory clients.  SWK also owns Enteris Biopharma, a CDMO and drug delivery platform.

ACCOUNTING MANAGER/SENIOR MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

The candidate will be responsible for the overall financial reporting and accounting operations of the company.  Duties include:

  • Assist in the production of quarterly financial reports, drafting of 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-Ks. Ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC guidance
  • Support the quarterly and year end external reporting process
  • Document and maintain the Company’s system of internal controls for compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
  • Candidate should have strong technical (GAAP) and financial accounting skills and ability to document accounting conclusions in a technical white paper
  • Maintenance of accounting records and general ledger system. Accounting includes responsibility of all balance sheet reconciliations and subledgers, including those for investment assets (loan accounting, debt and equity accounting, non-hedging derivative accounting)
  • Tracking of stock awards and calculation of stock compensation expense
  • Timely management of vendor payables

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active CPA with 7+ years of progressive experience in a technical accounting and accounting manager reporting role
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and SEC financial reporting regulations and requirements, strong technical accounting background is a plus
  • Demonstrates desire to learn and constantly improve
  • Ability to work independently while able to identify the appropriate times to involve supervisors
  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency while delivering high-quality work products
  • Self-motivated with ability to balance and prioritize competing demands
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Previous experience working in the life science industry is a plus
  • CPA and Big 4/national public accounting experience preferred
